The Blue Chilancho Vihar, Baudha Stupa

Golden Stupa surrounding Chilancho

Kritipur is a small, beautiful settlement located in Kathmandu Valley. Although, people from all over the country settle here, Newari people are the inhabitants of this Place. Kritipur is one of the oldest and most significant place in Kathmandu. It is well-known for Temples and Monasteries. Also, this place is said to have a stone base, i.e it has rest over a huge stable stone. Kritipur is surrounded by hills and forests. Tribhuvan University is also located in Kritipur.
Today afternoon, the whether was calm and beautiful. Despite of the scorching heat in winter, the breeze of air was cool and refreshing. So, I planned to explore some places in Kritipur and ended up visiting one of the oldest Stupa, Chilancho Vihar. This Baudha Stupa was made in medieval period (1515 A.D) by Jagatpal Varma. So, this Stupa is also called Jagatpal Vihar. An inscription of  Nepal Samvat 635 is found in this Chitya. We should climb several steps to reach our destination, Chilancho Vihar.
I took some photographs and I know these photos will be my reminiscence of final day of the year, 2015.
Wish You a Happy New Year, 2016!!
