This is one of the tranquil place you'll find in Bhaktapur, which is one of the busiest city after Kathmandu. Despite its desolate atmosphere, you can feel the true beauty of nature and architecture. The homely environment provided by the inhabitants makes you feel that, this place is more like your home and less like a foreign land. This Temple is situated at the top of Hill near the village called Changu, named after the very Temple. The design of Changu Narayan Temple resembles Pagoda style and is built by the Licchavi King, Mandev back in 3rd Century A.D. So, what do you think? Isn't is an Ancient Vista? The green surrounding of Champ trees has further embellished this place. How Can I forget the smell of air!! It blows almost every time and brings the fragrance of wild flowers that grows somewhere deep inside the Forest.
Changu Narayan is entitled as the Oldest temple of entire Nepal. This is the reason that grabs every individual's attention. The anomalous size of a rice grain is the second reason behind its popularity. It's about the size of six apples mixed together to form a single entity. This cryptic rice grain is attached to the posterior entrance of the temple gate.
One Saturday afternoon, we decided to visit Changu Nrayan Temple. We caught a bus to Kamal Binayak and then strode 6km North towards the hill. We could have caught a bus but we preferred hiking. It took more than an hour to reach our destination. The road linking Bhaktapur to Changu was Black-topped and there was plain field at both side of the road with sparse settlement. When we reached over there, it was a different feeling. The air was soothing and the art of temple made me proud. This place is really a wonder and is listed among the world heritage site of Nepal. I am very proud to be a part of this ancient city, City of Temples and Stupas. It was in fact a wonderful journey.
