Well, if you've ever been to Kathmandu you must have visited Nagarkot, or at least have  heard of it. Nagarkot, an internationally renowned resort set on the edge of the Kathmandu valley, close to the city of Devotees, Bhaktapur, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas of the country. It's a popular spot for picnic and other outdoor events among Nepalese people. They often visit this place during summer when the environment is more clean and lucid. It's also popular destination among tourists as this place provides beautiful sceneries of great Himalayas-even Mount Everest- just in front of our eyes. Also, as Nagarkot lies at a higher altitude of about 2150m above the sea level, this place provides spectacular view of sunrise and sunset over the mountains. We can see the broadest view of sun’s first ray touching the snow capped Himalayas and the last ray leaving it.

Mostly people visit Nagarkot in order to escape their busy city life and enjoy the greenery of nature and freshness of the cool breeze. The climate over here keeps fluctuating as it is very cold and hazy in winter due to its higher altitude and is cool during summer. Recently, many small shops and large number of resorts and hotels have been established. These hotels also provide the facility of homestay for tourists with mouthwatering foods.

The greenery environment and clean drinking water makes the place very popular among tourist of all over the world. More than 500 tourists visit Nagarkot a day. Nagarkot is also equipped with fascinating old and ancient temple such as Jalpadevi temple, Gita temple, Panchamahalaxmi temple, Seti Devi temple etc. and also with ancient and historical palace named as Bhangeri Durbar. It is also enriched with typical houses and traditional cultures where rural people are always ready to welcome tourist with a homely environment. Local people of Nagarkot are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry along with small scaled business like shopkeeping.
